Helleborus x sternii Boughton Beauty
A very special selection from the sternii group (H. lividus x H.argutifolius). Leathery, slate-green leaves with serrated margins; dark red stems and green flowers, flushed pink. Slightly variable, but a spectacular hybrid which retains much of the hardiness of its Corsican parent. Flowering Febuary to April, 18" (45cm) tall.
Planting instructions
Heavier clay soils seem to offer no serious obstacle to Hellebores and most H. orientalis are perfectly happy in sun or shade where they compliment the spring display with their long flowering season. These are offered as potted plants to be planted in the ground in the autumn to flower in the spring.
