Ipheion Froyle Mill
The RHS Award of Garden Merit
Ipheon is a small group of bulbs from South America, related to the allium, dormant for part of the year, but coming into life in early spring. The greyish leaves smell faintly of garlic when crushed and can be damaged by late frost, but usually recover completely. ‘Froyle Mill’ flowers earlier than other forms, from February onwards and has dusky violet flowers, facing upwards as a six-pointed star.
