Iris histrioides George
I. histrioides George is a hybrid of I histrioides and I.reticulata that does best when growing in a well-drained soil in a sunny position. The flowers appear in early February / March to 6" long before the foliage, and are a rich reddish-purple with a central stripe of yellow bordered in white. Later flowers are a lighter colour, and all are fragrant
Planting instructions
Plant the bulbs 2-4” (5-10cm) apart at twice their own depth in well-drained, rich peaty soil in sun or partial shade. Top dress the soil with grit so the flowers are not splashed with soil in rain.
