Iris unguicularis Mary Barnard
This is one of the most popular forms of I. unguicularis and, like her fellows, she carries many flowers over a long period, even though each one may be short lived. The flowers may be damaged by wind and rain, but each time the weather improves, a new flush will come. The flowers are a velvety purple-blue with flared petals marked with a central golden bar and white feathering. The green foliage is shorter than most, allowing the flower to be readily visible. Flowering in February / March to 15".
