Seemingly ignores winter and flowers with Cyclamen coum and the aconites in February at 4" (10cm) tall. It is a very hardy plant suitable for the rockery or garden.
Planting instructions
Easy, especially in light soils. Plant in spring light but summer shade 4" deep and 3-4" apart. The Scillas are generally easily grown blue flowered bulbs which add greatly to the richness of the spring tapestry. The early species flower in the sun, planted where they will get summer shade, 3" deep and 2"-3" apart. Later on, the larger forms generally cope better with more damp and shady conditions, planted 3"-4" deep and 3"-4" apart. The latest-flowering ones do like it warmer and drier, sometimes remaining nearly evergreen.
