Tulipa Havran is darker than plum in some lights, with a grape like bloom dusting the petals, though not quite as dark as Queen of Night but are a slightly more pointed shape and would open earlier, so these could start off your dark theme. Often multiheaded with more than one flower to a stem.
Tulip Havran bulbs should be planted 5" (12cm) deep and 5" (12cm) apart, or allow 7-9 per square foot in well drained soil with a sunny aspect. Don't be in a rush to get the tulips in the ground as they will benefit from planting in late October or early November, by which time the first frosts will have reduced the level of disease in the soil.
