A firm favourite for the winter garden. They need a sunny site and are often found growing right up against the house wall or in very poor soils, but they will perform even better if the growing conditions are not too harsh. Avoid the inclination to shear off the untidy foliage in the summer, instead rake out some of the dead leaves in the early autumn and give the plant some water and a liquid feed at the same time. It is then that they make their new roots and are initiating their flower buds so that should result in more flowers in the following winter. New divisions need careful planting and firming in, regular watering till established and possibly some protection in their first winter, but we do supply generous sized divisions.
