A new breeding of Elephants Ears. Deep magenta flowers are held above green foliage in the early spring. As the winter approaches, the foliage of this plant then turns a deep burgundy, almost bright black on some leaves, creating an attractive contrast in the winter and early spring. Compact in habit, so ideal for patio pots. Supplied as a 2ltr pot in early May
These can be planted in either patio pots or garden borders. Dig a hole approximately twice the size of the rootball. Knock the plant out of the pot, and place into the centre of the hole, and backfill, ensuring the returned soil is lightly pressed into place. Also ensure the crown of the plant is above the soil surface.
Fully grown this Bergenia will be 30cm tall and 30cm wide, so please bear this in mind when finalising the position of this plant in your garden
Bergenia are best suited to partial shade aspects, and will tolerate moist conditions, as long as the soil does not stay waterlogged for an extended period of time. Ensure these are kept watered through the summer months especially in their establishment year
Flowers April - May
Height 12” (30cm)
