Helleborus Winter Passion

Grown by Avon this year, these are a rather special type of Christmas Rose, making it a worthy addition to your garden. Flowering from December through until February, cream white flowers form above the grey/green serrated foliage, giving your garden much needed colour in the winter months. 

Winter Passion is special as it is a hybrid hellebore - this means although it thrives in shady and moist conditions, it can also be just as happy in partial sun, and is not hurt by hot summers days like some of the older varieties of hellebores are - you just have to remember to keep the ground well watered!

These are a clump forming perennial, which means as each year goes by the plant naturally gets bigger, and the flowering display each year becomes more powerful! You can see the image to the left of Winter Passion in my own garden - this is approximately 5 years old now.

Planting Instructions

These can be planted in either patio pots or garden borders. Dig a hole approximately twice the size of the rootball. Knock the plant out of the pot, and place into the centre of the hole, and backfill, ensuring the returned soil is lightly pressed into place. Also ensure the crown of the plant is above the soil surface. 

Fully grown this hellebore will be 40cm tall and 40cm wide, so please bear this in mind when finalising the position of this plant in your garden

Hellebores thrive best in shady and moist conditions so ensure these are kept watered through the summer months
