Asphelus albus, a native of Central and Southern Europe and North Africa. with its broadly branching habit makes a strong structural statement in a border or scree bed. It is in early growth throughout the winter so is only suitable for autumn planting. The branched stems carry white star-shaped flowers with fine brown lined backs. It flowers in Summer and reaches 36-60" (90-150cm). They form big root balls akin to Dahlias.
Asphelus albus is a plant for full sun and the root should be planted 5" (12cm) deep and no closer than 12" (30cm) apart in fairly well-drained soil. It is drought tolerant once well established.
