Camassia leichtlinii Avon's Stellar hybrids

A seed raised form, these are the result of hybridisation and selection work done here. The plants exhibit widely varying colours, Monet-like variations on blue through to purple, mauve, lilac, greyish, green and pale pink. We cannot guarantee what you might receive, it is ‘pot luck’ but many are individually eye-catching and from the seed that they in turn freely produce, who knows what you might raise yourself! The bulbs also vary somewhat in size being dug from our heavy soils - very different from the Dutch grown, machine harvested, graded bulbs from sandy soils that most gardeners are used to. 

Planting Instructions

Camassia leichtlinii Avon''s Stellar Hybrids bulbs should be planted 4-6" (10-15cm) deep and 9" (23cm) apart in any reasonably well-drained soil in groups of 5 or more. They like a moist spring and flowering, followed by a dry dormancy. Let the leaves start to lose colour before cutting them back. They prefer not to be disturbed once established.
