Crocus vernus Golden Yellow is one of the ''Dutch'' crocus which are hybrids of Crocus vernus though it has been found not to be a true C. vernus form but a triploid hybrid between C. vernus and C. angustifolius and this may account for it flowering earlier than the other ''Dutch'' crocuses. Can be used alone or in combination with the purple forms. The larger bulb size also makes them safer from squirrels and mice.
This plant/cultivar has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant.
Crocus vernus Golden Yellow should be planted in 2's and 3's about 3" (8cm) apart and 4" (10cm) deep to give a dappled effect. Do not mow of foliage till brown.
