One of our "Old Ladies" as Alan used to refer to the taller, scented varieties that were often raised by enthusiasts and then grown for cutting prior to WW 1 and after that war were largely lost. This was raised by Rev Engleheart pre 1913. Small cupped with an orange rim with pale yellow petals that are slightly ruffled. These are home grown and we never get them to reach the size of Dutch grown bulbs. Ideal in borders and grass, or under old apple trees. See also Butter and Eggs and White Lady.
Narcissus Bath''s Flame bulbs should be planted 5-6" (12-15cm) deep and 4-5" (10-12cm) apart in cool rich soil in sun or part shade. They do best with a moist spring and a dry summer.
