Ornithogalum nutans belonging to the ''Star of Bethlehem'' family. It has very pretty, soft silvery grey-green flowers, bluebell-like in stature and long lasting when picked. They probably should be grown in light shade. If dry or stressed, in May particularly, the foliage tends to begin to yellow even at flowering time.
This plant/cultivar has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant.
Ornithogalum nutans is a silver and green flowered bulb a bit in the stature of Bluebells. They like similar conditions too so part sun or part shade in any sort of soil. Very hardy they will disappear in the winter to just the bulbs . Plant the bulbs 2-3" (5-8 cm) deep and 2-3" (5-8cm) apart working on 10-15 per square foot. The leaves naturally start to yellow as they come to flower, this is nothing to worry about, but does mean that they are not especially good for growing in pots where the foliage is more visible. May flowering about 9" (20 cm) tall.
