Naturally growing in Greek olive groves, this autumn flowering crocus is probably too Greecian for 'ordinary' outdoor conditions here but will be hardy in sheltered situations. The most perfectly proportioned and gorgeous of any Crocus in my eyes. Alternating petals of dark and paler soft silvery lilac with paler throats.
This plant/cultivar has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant.
Plant 3" deep in a pot of free draining compost with some winter protection and provide them a dry summer rest once dormant. Flowering in the autumn with only a basal tuft of leaves the foliage emerges later.
