White buds held on sturdy stems above light green foliage give way to shimmering bright white flowers. A slightly shorter alternative to Polar Ice
With South African origins the Agapanthus are all sun lovers, but there they would be used to summer rainfall so we suggest they will do better where they aren't too dry. Hence lots of organic matter in the soil to hold the moisture will pay dividends. They will flower this summer but flowering in future years will be progressively more impressive. Agapanthus Alan Street is a very dark flowered inky-blue coloured form about 30" tall (75 cm) flowering in July / August. Plant the divisions 3" or 8cm deep in good light and they may take a year to settle in but allow for a spread of 18" (45cm) by the third year. Only in the far north would you need to consider protecting them in winter when they will be dormant. If you plant them in pots remember to protect those pots over winter, they are more cold affected than plants in the ground.
Flowering August – September
Height 30” (75 cm)
