Purplish in bud but a warm apricot colour in flower with darker foliage. Producing lots of flower. Easy and increasing so if you need something vigorous and substantial this is the one to go for. The RHS Plant Finder thinks that this is the same plant as C. Columbus. Bare root bulbs
These lovely staples of the summer herbaceous border will not flourish on poor dry soil - they must have rich soil and summer moisture. They are hardy once established deeply, but do benefit from winter mulching to protect any early shoots, particularly in colder areas. Plant 4-6"(10-15cm) apart and 6 " deep and water well on planting. Alternatively plant in a pot and plant out in June, after all chance of frost is past. It is helpful to plan to split the clumps every 3-4years as this helps to prevent them declining. A warm apricot-yellow flower emerging from purplish buds, and with darker foliage, very floriferous.
