Towers of waxy, milk-white flowers on sturdy stems with upright grey-green leaves. Stately plants always admired. If you delay planting your bulbs into May, you will tend to get flowers that last longer in the slightly cooler autumn than those that flower in the peak of the summer heat. They also grow away much more readily and vigorously when planted late rather than sulking in the still cold soil . Unhappy with bulbs produced on a field scale in Holland (which tend to have a large virus load) we found a source in Ireland some years ago and are now self sufficient in them. Smaller bulbs but still of flowering size
For sun or light shade planted 4" (10cm) deep and 6" (15cm) apart in good soil, not too heavy or wet. Beware of slugs.
Flowers August
Height 36" (90cm)
