The best placement for Hemerocallis is in the full sun - they need a minimum of 6 hours daylight per day to thrive. These are very tough plants, and will thrive in pretty much any conditions apart from waterlogged soils.
Prior to planting, it is best to soak the division for 3-4 hours
Plenty of space should be given to the bare root when planting to allow space for the plant to thrive - I would suggest around 2' (60cm) from any other plant in the border. Dig a generous sized hole, with the crown just below the soil surface, then backfill. Water in well, and ensure the plant has plenty of water in its first season to allow it to establish
