This has slightly barrel shaped flowers in a glowing orange on an apricot stem. They make thick clumps in time with many flowers. Another variety from the Bees stable (an old nursery ‘Bees of Chester’ 1938-1960). We provide generous divisions from open ground raised plants.
This plant/cultivar has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit because it has proved to be reliable in appropriate conditions and a good performing plant.
Good drainage needed, they dislike waterlogging. Best in fairly full sun and in warmer soils. Plant them in good conditions, water as necessary to establish them in the late spring and early summer, remember some slug deterrents, such as sheep's wool around the area and wait for the summer flourish. If you are planting more than one plant them about 14" (34cm) apart, and if different varieties a little further away from one another.
